Let’s talk about the computers we use in everyday life. What do they look like? They are everywhere and in everything!

What sorts of problems do these computers solve?

What language do computers use? Do they speak English? Or are the programmed to speak English?

Definitions

Computer program: a sequence of instructions that makes a computer or machine do something

Programmer: the girl who is writing the computer program

App: (short for application) a software program that runs on your computer, tablet, or phone.

Hardware vs software: Hardware is the physical parts or components of a computer. Software is instructions that can be stored and run on hardware.

Algorithm: A list of steps. For instance, when you want up and follow a routine, that’s a list of steps. What’s your morning routine? More on this below!
